Leadership Part 3

football leadership.jpg

In my previous blogs, I have shared the first two levels of leadership, as well as, provide some insight on how to progress from one level to the next. As a strength coach, leadership is a character trait that is preached to the athletes I work with on a daily basis. I believe that at some point in their life each one of those athletes will be placed in a position to lead others, which is why I am so passionate about it. Today, I will continue to share with you how to excel through the different levels of leadership.
Production
Level 3 is all about production. The production level is what qualifies and separates true leaders from people who merely occupy a leadership position.2 In simpler terms, they get results and have a significant impact on a team. This is because of the self-discipline, work ethic, and organizations skills that they possess.  Not only does a level 3 leader get results, they also attract others to be as effective as them. What coach or organization wouldn’t want to a team of level 3 type leaders? As you progress and grow as a leader, here are some things to consider during that process:
·    People naturally follow leaders stronger than them – Your work ethic, self-discipline, and management skills don’t go unnoticed, which is why you will establish more credibility with teammates and peers.2
·    Leaders find a way to win -  The best leaders will always find a way to produce, get results, and win.2
·    A Leader must give up to go up – You will have to give up some privileges and resources to continue your growth.2
·    Do things right – Leaders do things the right way at the right time for the right reason.2
Now that you are equipped with the characteristics of a level 3 leader, start by implementing some of these characteristics into your leadership role. Produce, get results, and find a way to win. Join me for my next blog on level 4 “people development”.
