Don't Forget Your Protein!

images7PQU5FUU.jpgProtein plays a vital role in the production of building muscle and it is the building blocks of tissues in our body. “Proteins are also used to manufacture hormones, enzymes, cellular messengers, nucleic acids, and immune-system components. Without adequate protein, our bodies can't put together the structures that make up every cell, tissue, and organ, nor can it generate the biochemical substances needed for cardiovascular function, muscle contraction, growth, and healing.”1

Fueling your body with protein enriched foods is beneficial for your overall health and nutrition. There are copious ways to receive protein. The most commonly eaten protein foods are beef, chicken, eggs, turkey, dairy, beans, nuts, and various types of fish such as salmon or tuna. In the fitness world today the use of whey protein has become widely known and incorporated into the diet. This specific type of protein has said to be the complete protein and it includes all nine essential amino acids and low levels of lactose. Whey protein, has been found to improve longevity by elevating levels of the most powerful antioxidant that is produced by our bodies, glutathione. People with higher glutathione have less risk of disease and better quality of life as they age.2 Protein is beneficial in  multiple ways (listed below).

Here are more protein benefits:
  • Easier fat loss on a calorie-restricted diet
  • Better bone density and less risk of osteoporosis
  • Better brain function
