The Legendary Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan. The name speaks for itself, but in case you do not know, he is a basketball legend. Hearing/reading his name gives me the goose bumps. I grew up watching him play basketball for the Chicago Bulls. Number 23 was the only reason I got to stay up past my bedtime during the school week. Michael Jordan was my idol then and still is today.
Not only did Jordan dominate the court statistically but he did it with charm and finesse. When you watched him play he gave you hope, hope that somewhere inside yourself you had the same ability to become a legend in your own way. Just by watching him play you could feel his overwhelming passion, dedication, and love for the game. As a kid growing up in the Jordan Era, it didn’t matter what sport or organization you were involved in, you wanted to be “like Mike”. His jersey number was everywhere and everyone wanted to wear it.
Other players have been compared to Michael Jordan but in my book no one will ever be better. This past Sunday he celebrated his 50th birthday and I just wanted to confirm that he is definitely not forgotten, nor will he ever be. He has been an inspiration to me as well as millions of others since he blessed us with his abilities and wisdom on the basketball court.
Limits, like fear, is often an illusion. – Michael Jordan

  1. So I’ll have to be the first to say that I didn’t watch MJ as much as others but I definitely knew who he was. What inspired me about him was that he did “the impossible”. After all the doubters he still held his head up high and continued to do what he thought he was best at, and that’s exactly what he came to be. MJ will always be my inspiration because he is the prime example of if you work hard at it you can achieve it. Back in the day, and even now, people want to be number 23 just “like Mike”.
Although he just turned 50, I believe he could still get out on the court and amaze his fans, and the whole United States, no the whole world will be right in front of their TV screens waiting to see that magical moment. Congratulations to Micheal Jordan, he will forever be my hero.

  2. I believe MJ is the best basketball player to have ever played in the NBA! He was the most dominant force during his era and accomplished many things throughout his career. Though there was some controversy over his gambling issues at casinos during his career in the playoffs AND the tragedy of his father being murdered by two teenagers at a rest stop, he still managed to keep his head on straight and rise to the top. MJ will always be considered the greatest NBA player of all times.

  3. Michael Jordan played in an NBA era that has completely changed sense his dominance of his own era. The game has changed, fouls that are called in todays game are uncomparable to what was called in the 80's and 90's. It is not even justifiable to compare todays super stars to MJ. He was the ultimate competitor that made the teammates around him better, that is why he was the greatest of all time.
