40-Day Yoga Challenge Completed

In my previous blogs, I discussed Yoga in the NFL http://tinyurl.com/c2op8so as well as my personal 40-Day Hot Yoga Challenge http://tinyurl.com/aj8hmfg and http://tinyurl.com/bbhg9fs.  Now that I have completed my 40 day journey, I understand why professional athletes are making yoga a part of their regular training.  As I worked through these 40-days, I experienced everything from physical transformation to mental relaxation.

Although my days were busier than usual as I jugged a full-time job, full-time graduate school and 75-minutes of hot yoga a day, I managed to have more energy and get more accomplished in the past 40 days than I could have ever imagined.  My increased energy as well as my new-found mental positivity and clarity have taken me to a whole other level in my professional career and my personal relationships.  I have a renewed sense of spirit and calmness each morning as I awake to take on the day ahead.

40 days of Hot Yoga has also increased my strength significantly.  And, I have shed four pounds, plus decreased an inch on my waist and half an inch on my thighs.  I have never experienced a physical transformation so quickly and I cannot imagine my life without yoga.  I challenge anyone to try Yoga or Hot Yoga……you won’t regret it!

  1. Congratulations on completing the full 40 days of Hot Yoga. The weight loss and decrease in your waist line is an awesome additive to your healthier mental state and increased strength levels. Yoga is very beneficial as you have not only stated but proven through your own personal experience. I am a personal trainer and I have had some of my rodeo clients go to yoga classes to help increase their flexibility. Even though I do stretching with these certain clients, Yoga has help considerably in their range of motion and overall flexibility. The increased flexibility my clients have encountered with Yoga has helped them stay injury free. Yay Yoga!!!

  3. I really enjoyed hearing about your 40 day hot yoga challenge, as I have heard many positive views about yoga; I am not as familiar with hot yoga. I feel like hot yoga may be worth trying, since I do not like leaving the gym unless I am drenched in sweat. I feel that I must reach this point, or, I have not worked out hard enough. Being a dancer, I realize just how important flexibility is for your body, and though I am very flexible, I tend to feel a little intimidated while doing yoga. I feel that this is because to be most successful with yoga, you must relax, and focus on what you are doing, and somehow cancel out all other distractions. This is something I have always struggled with. I have taken several regular yoga classes, and am always shocked to see athletes in my class, especially athletic men. One once told me that his coach recommended yoga, since he is the kicker for his football team. Now I am curious to hear of other athletes/sports that encourage incorporating hot yoga to for increased flexibility, and athleticism. Now, instead of sweating it out in the sauna, or on the treadmill, I am interested in trying out hot yoga!
