Zumba the Pounds Away!

For people wanting to lose weight, or simply become more fit, it is suggested that we need to incorporate about 60-minutes of cardio into our workouts 3-5 days a week. Individuals just starting a workout regimen may find that being active for such a long period of time can be extremely tough. Getting in shape is much easier if you find a way to do so while having fun. Although dance may not be your “thing” or you may consider yourself to have two left feet, Zumba is a form of dance that all can enjoy. Zumba classes are high energy and provide a motivating exercise environment for dancing your way to fitness.

At first, Zumba can be intimidating simply because it incorporates dance and rhythm; however, one of the best perks to Zumba is that it does not require any experience to be successful. Typical Zumba classes incorporate different styles of dance including: cha-cha, meringue, belly dancing, rumba, salsa, mambo, martial arts and hip-hop. Zumba targets your arms, abdominals, buttocks, and legs by incorporating common workout moves with high impact dance steps. Participants may burn 600-1000 calories in a 1-hour class.

Fitness instructors offer many types of Zumba programs, allowing people of any age or fitness level to join. Zumba programs include Zumba Gold (for older members), Zumba Tone, Aqua Zumba, Zumba Circuit, and Zumba-tonic (for children). These simple, high energy classes will allow participants to quickly dance away the pounds while having fun!
Don’t be intimidated --- dance the pounds away with Zumba!

  1. I really enjoyed reading this blog and I can relate. It helped me start working out again after my last year of track was completed. I was tired of the boring treadmill runs and I couldn't stay motivated to regularly work out. My best friend took me to a Zumba class and I fell in love. I even got my mom doing it too. I remember how exhausted I was after my first session. The next day I was even a little sore, but it was the good sore. I definitely encourage people to try Zumba out, it's fun and you burn tons of calories!

  2. This is a great blog! Zumba is a great cardio workout, especially for those people who do not enjoy traditional cardio and strength training. I never realized that there were so many different types of Zumba out there. I really like the fact that there are ones for children and older adults. It is a very fun workout and I would highly encourage people to try this at least once. A Zumba class can make a bad day a whole lot better!
